Just a few updates on the Tassara family down here in Hermosa beach.
Leandro is getting bigger everyday and getting into everything. He definitely
has the crawling thing down well. He stands and kinda tries to take
a step or two. Soon I believe we will be chasing him around much more.
He will be celebrating his first birthday Nov. 22.
As far as Mauricio & Angela, we are doing well. Angela has been
an incredible mom. It definitely is a very tough job. Angela's mom,
Esmeralda, was just here for 2 months. She really enjoyed spending time
with Angela and her new grandson, Leandro.
As far as Mauricio, I just go to work and make sure we have what we
need. But of course I mix in some fun. Have been surfing regularly with
my cousin Chris Lobos the beautiful beaches of Southern California,
such as El Pescador, Topanga, Malibu, Pt. Dume, and many others. Also
planning a trip to visit my brothers, Aldo and Dino in Maui this January
2003. Hopefully all my cousins will be able to come along and make it
family surf reunion.
I hope everyone is doing well, as we are doing great.
Some recent pictures of the family can be seen by clicking HERE.

I completed my sixth 200-mile
relay this October. The first 3 were in Oregon, referred to as Hood-to-Coast,
from Mt. Hood to Seaside; and the last 3 have been in California, from
Calistoga to Santa Cruz. These relays involve twelve runners, two huge
vans, no sleep, dozens of power bars, gallons of Gatorade, bottles of
aspirin and lots of endorphins. Each runner has 3 legs and run approximately
every 8 hours. My legs this year were at 3:15pm, 11:45pm and 9:00am;
each at race pace with the last one gaining 1000 feet of elevation in
3 miles. I always have so much fun (dont ask me why). My team
placed first in the Corporate Mixed division, and 40th out of 300 ---
not too shabby. The best part of it was the post-relay dinner Marco
made me: barbecued chicken and sausages, yummy Thai rice, M&Ms
and apple pie a la mode that Im sure I would have loved
but
I fell asleep instead.

I forgot to mention my latest trip to Maui visiting my sons. I was there
from August 27 and I returned 3 weeks later. I had an absolutely wonderful
time with my them enjoying the breezes, sunsets, sunny days and the
slow life style that I love about Maui. I spent a lot of time at Dinitos
apartment. I did get sick for a couples of days though, I think from
getting too much sun! After that though I was fine, ready to go go go.
Lucho arrived from L.A., and we move to a
resort name NAPILI KAI BEACH RESORT. We stayed there for a week and
it was really a beautiful
place. We then went a few times to visit Aldo at his country house that
he is living at with roommates. It has a beautiful green mountain view
and horses in the backyard. He invited a few of his friends for a delicious
BBQ. We really had lots of fun!
The days in MAUI are so relaxing and calm, but they go by very fast,
so now I cant wait to go back soon.
Mahalo,
-Tia Nelly

-Scary True Story !!!
This happened about a month or two ago near Lonavala, and even though
it sounds like something out of the X Files or from Alfred Hitchcock presents...
it's real !
This guy drives from Mumbai to Pune and decides not to take the new expressway
as he wants to see the scenery. The inevitable happens and when he reaches
the ghats his car breaks down - he's stranded miles from nowhere.
Having no choice he starts walking on the side of the road, hoping to
get a lift to the nearest human habitation. It's dark and raining and
pretty soon he's wet and shivering.
The night rolls on and no car goes by, the monsoon rains are so strong
he can hardly see a few feet ahead of him. Suddenly he sees a car coming
towards him. It slows and then stops next to him - without thinking the
guy opens the car's door and jumps in.
Seated in the back, he leans forward to thank the person who had saved
him when he realizes there is nobody behind the wheel!!!
Even though there's no one in the front seat and no sound of any engine, the
car starts moving slowly. The guy looks at the road ahead and sees a curve
coming (remember, this is in the hills and there is a steep, steep drop
beyond the curve). Scared almost to death he starts to pray, begging the
Lord for his life. He hasn't come out of shock, when just before he hits
the curve, a hand appears through the window and moves the wheel! The
car makes the curve safely and continues on the road to the next bend.
The guy, now paralyzed in terror, watches how the hand appears every time
they are before a curve and moves the steering wheel just enough to get
the car around each bend.
Finally, the guy sees lights ahead. Gathering his courage he wrenches
open the door of the silent, slowly moving car, scrambles out and runs
as hard as he can towards the lights. It's a small town. Wet and in shock
goes to a roadside dhabba, which is open, and asks for adrink. They find
some hooch and give him a shot. And he starts telling whoever is in the
dhabba about
the horrible experience he's just been through.
A silence envelops everybody when they realize the guy isn't drunk, and
is really frightened - he's crying and shaking. So they give him more
hooch and talk about what they should do, whether to call the police or
find a priest, or what.
But just then two guys walk into the dhabba. And one says to the other
-"Look, Mehernosh - that's the jerk that got in the car when we were
pushing it."

Since this is the shortest E-zine
thus far I had better personally spill some guts and get the gossip going.
My mother and I are leaving for England the day after Thanksgiving this
year for two weeks. I need to get away from computers for a while and
the opportunity came up. We are hoping that since just the two of us are
going we will be able to really spend quality time visiting with everyone.
I am looking forward to seeing my family, Grandpas old house (hopefully
one of my future houses someday), drinking loads of beer, eating tons
of baked beans on toast, and taking in all the sights. I plan on interviewing
everyone and with my digital camera, laptop, and umbrella I will be documenting
everything I can about them. So consider yourself warned England!
In two weeks from today I will be moving back to San Diego for a while.
Winter has come and its time for me to move South. I am looking forward
to spending time with Teri again since we have been living apart for 6
months now. I'm going to take some time to travel to England, Maui, and
possibly Chile. I would like to start taking some more classes maybe to
help solidify many of the theories and practices I have learned over the
years at work. Since both Teri and I again have season passes at Kirkwood
Mountain in Tahoe this winter we will be hitting the Ski slopes with full
force. Hopefully our rear ends can handle all the force of falling!!!
:)
talk to you all soon.
